“I think he has been one of the best, there is no doubt. There was a situation today. We were sitting in the dugout and was thinking who would come out to bat next. I just put my hand up and said that MS Dhoni will come and finish the game off. We probably did not execute the plan very well against him and you know that if you miss then he will make you pay. He has done it for a long time now. I think our bowlers did not bowl very well. So I think we will when he will decide to retire then he will be one of the best finishers of all time.” Ricky Ponting said.

In the last two overs, CSK needed 24 runs but Avesh Khan dismissed set batsman Ruturaj Gaikwad on the first ball. Dhoni whacked a six and match came down to 12 needed off the last six balls. In the final over, Tom Curran removed Moeen Ali but Dhoni held the nerves and smashed three fours to seal the CSK’s spot in the summit clash.
CSK sent in Shardul Thakur in number 4 when asked how DC’s dugout reacted to it Ponting said,” They were trying to send a pinch hitter and try and get some cheap runs. Tom Curran was bowling at the time but he took the wicket and removed the threat. But we were defiantly surprised to see him walk out to bat.”
