Chennai Super Kings have called Mumbai batter Ayush Mhatre for trails at the Chepauk in Chennai amid IPL 2025, as per reports. The 17-year-old, who made his first-class and List A debut in late 2024, had a prolific domestic season and managed to turn heads with his knocks. CSK have won only one out of their three matches they have played so far in IPL 2025.
Mhatre to make entry into CSK amid IPL 2025?
As per Times of India, Mhatre was asked to travel to the CSK camp in Chennai for the mid-season trials. He went unsold at the IPL 2025 mega auction earlier in November 2024. However, it is pertinent to point out that Ayush can enter IPL 2025, if picked by CSK, only if a player is unavailable or if a player is ruled out due to injury.

“Yes, we’ve called him for trials. He has impressed our talent scouts. No, if there’s any need, we’ll do that. We’re not picking anybody, it’s just a trial,” CSK MD Kasi Viswanathan told Times of India.
Mhatre was asked by CSK to report for trials earlier in November 2024.
Mhatre bats at the top of the order for Mumbai in the domestic circuit. In his last List A game, he scored 148 runs off just 93 deliveries. No wonder the CSK scouts are impressed with the teenager. In November 2024, he earned a call-up to the India U-19 side for the U19 Asia Cup.
2024 was quite a phenomenal year for Mhatre. He surpassed Yashasvi Jaiswal to become the new record holder for the youngest to score 150+ runs in List A cricket.
