The $150 million will be paid over 10 years while the CSA has also guaranteed $1 million for each team every year from the broadcasting rights. The franchises will also earn from sponsorships and tickets. But even then, all six will suffer losses initially.
However, with $55-60 million (Rs 400 Cr) profits from IPL, the IPL franchise owners are not bothered about the losses. Instead, through South Africa T20 League, it can expand its footprints globally.

Hiccup for CSA: However, despite the windfall, Cricket South Africa has a hiccup to deal with. Hermis Sports and Entertainment ltd has sent a legal notice to CSA. The company was a part of Global League T20 which was abandoned. Hermis claims that since it was part of the abandoned project, it has the first right to refusal.
A Johannesburg-based law firm has sent the notice on Wednesday, claiming that Hermis will explore all legal options if the CSA does not confirm its rights. The firm also threatened to consider applying for urgent restraining order if the CSA continues with the process of awarding license to franchise owners. If the court sides with Hermis Sports, CSA may have to abandon the South Africa T20 League as well.
Conceptualised by former ICC and CSA CEO Haroon Lorgat, Global League T20 never saw the light of day. Just a month before its first match in 2017, the league wast postponed as CSA failed to secure television rights and a title sponsor. After postponing it twice, the league was abandoned.
