Cricket South Africa (CSA) has announced their central contracts for the 2025-26 season. 20 players have been included, 18 of whom get a national contract and the remaining two hybrid contracts, which will run from June 1, 2025 to May 31, 2026.
Heinrich Klaasen might get a central contract.
Shockingly, Heinrich Klaasen, Anrich Nortje and Tabraiz Shamsi’s names aren’t mentioned. While nothing is mentioned about the pacer and spinners, discussions regarding the wicketkeeper are going on. It might be possible that, like Quinton de Kock, Klaasen wishes to explore the franchise cricket circuit instead of playing international cricket.
“Discussions regarding Heinrich Klaasen’s future are ongoing, and a final decision will be made in due course,” CSA said in a release.
David Miller to play a select few events
And one of the greatest batters to represent South Africa, David Miller, has been awarded a hybrid contract along with Rassie van der Dussen. This type of contract means that Miller and Rassie will only play in agreed-upon bilateral white-ball series’ and ICC tournaments.
“The hybrid contracts take into consideration the dynamic nature of modern-day cricket and will provide David and Rassie with the opportunity to contribute to the team during specific bilateral tours and ICC events,” Director of National Teams and High Performance Enoch Nkwe said on the hybrid contracts.
“I want to congratulate all the players who have been awarded national contracts for the next 12 months, especially the players who have been contracted for the first time. All of these players have been contracted with the importance of the next World Test Championship cycle and the 2027 Cricket World Cup on home soil in mind,” he added.
