CSA and SuperSport have agreed to start a new company that will oversee the brand new T20 tournament. The competition’s preparations are well underway, with the first ball scheduled to be bowled in January 2023.

CSA T20 League: Why CSA T20 League is an IPL rival?
- Like IPL, it will follow a privately-owned franchise-based model.
- Similar to IPL, the new CSA league will have a player auction.
- Unlike the Manzi Super League, it will have foreign players.
- It will also rival PSL as the Premier T20 League of Pakistan is played during the January-February window.

The league will begin in January, with six privately held franchises playing each other in a double round before the top three teams advance to the play-off rounds.
Moseki stressed that this is a brand-new event and that South Africa has a wealth of talent that would benefit from exposure in a franchise league. He said that the league and the teams had developed a sustainable business model, with a healthy compensation bill to attract the top local and foreign players.

The league will also provide a new source of funding for the sport in South Africa, which will help it flourish. The focus will be on all-action cricket sportainment, similar to T20 tournaments throughout the world.
“We are delighted to invest in a product that will change the face of South African cricket. There is an early-year gap in the calendar, so the timing is ideal,” said Marc Jury, CEO of SuperSport.
All of the matches will be televised live on SuperSport, and the world feed will be produced for the worldwide television market.
The new league is Cricket South Africa’s latest effort to launch a franchise-based T20 event. Following the 2017 Champions Trophy, they created the Global T20 league in London, which was the brainchild of former board CEO Haroon Lorgat. However, the event was canceled due to a lack of secure television and broadcast deals.
