Earlier they went on to restrict Galle Gladiators to just 108 runs. Benny Howell went on to scalp 3 wickets while Sahan Arachchige was the saving grace for the Gladiators after scoring a well-stitched 53-run knock. Previously with a lot of rain, the toss happened after an hour’s delay, and thus the game got reduced to an 18-over match. Colombo Stars picked up a comfortable victory over Galle Gladiators in the Eliminator game of the LPL 2022. The match was held off to a late start with rain causing an interruption. As a result, the match was curtailed to an 18-over game. Batting first Galle Gladiators put up a bad show with the bat.

Sahan Arachchige was the only saving grace for his team as the Gladiators crumbled up a mere 108/9 after the end of the stipulated 18 overs. Fiery spells from Mohammad Nabi and Benny Howell destroyed the Gladiators. While Nabi bagged a couple of wickets, Howell scalped 3 wickets.

Colombo Stars, on the other hand, had a shaky start but recovered well. With just 109 to chase, they wrapped up the match an over to spare. With this win, the Stars will now face Kandy Falcons in Qualifier 2.
