India kept up their winning trend in the Cricket World Cup 2023 with a straightforward four-wicket victory over New Zealand on Sunday in Dharamsala. After a week off, Rohit Sharma and company will resume their campaign against the defending champions on October 29 in Lucknow. But before that, Team India will spend some days holidaying in the beautiful Himalayan state.
The Men in Blue have elected to stay in Dharamsala for two days rather than travelling the day after the game, as has been customary so far in the World Cup.
“The team will not travel today and will stay back in Dharamsala for two days. They will be resting before preparations for the next game in Lucknow begin,” a BCCI official who is familiar with the team’s schedule informs News18.
It was earlier reported by PTI that Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma, KL Rahul, and other players will fly back home to meet their family. But now the Indians have decided to stay back in Dharamshala and enjoy the beauty of the Himalayan city.

After registering a magnificent 95 against New Zealand at Dharamshala, Virat Kohli thoroughly relished by dipping into the pool today. The right-handed batter posted a photo of himself lounging in the pool while enjoying his day off on Instagram.
Meanwhile, these couple of days off will be a great breather for skipper Rohit Sharma who has been continuously manning his troops since last month.
Planning the practice sessions has been well-done by the Indian team management, who have taken into account the players’ demanding travel schedules and workload management, particularly for the fast bowlers.
Due the upcoming critical games, veteran players like Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma may find this break to be advantageous.
During the ODI World Cup 2023, only India has all nine of its league games scheduled across several locations.
India has successfully chased down targets in all five of their games, with the biggest being the 274-run target set by New Zealand on October 22 at Dharamsala. Rohit Sharma, who bats at the top of the order, has shown a lot of intent in India’s batting this time around. With a strike rate of 133.48, Captain has amassed 311 runs over the course of 5 innings.
