Not October, the International Cricket Council (ICC) has advanced the T20 World Cup 2024 dates to June. West Indies and the USA will co-host the tournament from June 4-30. The last two T20 WCs were conducted in October. While finalising Future Tours Program, ICC had already indicated that the tournament will be in June.
As per an ESPNCricinfo report, ICC officials have carried out an inspection of potential T20 World Cup 2024 venues in the USA. The tournament will be played across 10 venues in the Caribbean and the USA. In the United States, Morrisville, Dallas, New York besides Florida will host matches.

Potential T20 World Cup 2024 Venues in US
- Dallas: Grand Prairie Stadium
- Morrisville: Church Street Park
- New York: Van Cortlandt Park, Bronx
- Florida: Lauderhill Cricket Stadium
Change in Format:
Unlike the past few editions, T20 WC 2024 will have a different format. Instead of 16 teams, the tournament will expand to 20 teams. All 20 teams will be in 4 groups of 5 each. The top two teams from each group will qualify for the Super 8 Round. The eight teams will be further divided into two groups of 4 each.
The top two teams from each group will qualify for the semifinals. The winners of the semifinals will play in the final. England are the defending champions. Jost Buttler-led team beat Pakistan in the final to lift their second T20 World Cup title.
T20 World Cup 2024 Qualified Teams:
With the tournament expanding to a 20-team affair, it will be bigger. The top 8 teams from T20 WC 2022 have already sealed their spots while hosts USA and West Indies are automatically in. Afghanistan and Bangladesh have sealed their spots via ICC T20 rankings. The 8 remaining spots will go to qualifying teams from Europe, East Asia Pacific, Americas, Asia and Africa qualifiers. In all, a total of 55 matches will be played over 27 days.
