Shikhar Dhawan is the latest injury worry for Punjab Kings after their skipper missed the last game. Stand-in captain Sam Curran confirmed that the veteran left-hander had suffered a shoulder injury in the previous game. While there is no timeline, Dhawan is set for a fitness test before the game to ascertain his availability.
The 37-year-old was in the dugout during the last game but was absent from the team’s social media accounts in the days to follow. In his absence, Atharva Taide was handed a debut, while Harpreet Bhatia was also drafted in for his first IPL game after a decade.
As for Liam Livingstone, he is yet to feature in IPL 2023. The English all-rounder only arrived in India last week and has since linked up with the squad. However, his return was further delayed after he pulled a muscle at Punjab Kings training last week. His availability for the RCB clash will also depend on his fitness test. The Englishman last played a competitive cricket game back in December.
Despite their absence, Punjab Kings clinched a hard-fought win over the Lucknow Super Giants last time out. Sikandar Raza scored a fine half-century while Shah Rukh Khan added the finishing touches in a fine display at the Ekana Stadium.
