Chapman was selected as a result of his outstanding efforts in the T20I series, when he ended with 290 runs in five games to lead all scorers. Mark Sinclair Chapman (born 27 June 1994) is a limited overs cricket player representing both Hong Kong and New Zealand who was born in Hong Kong. Chapman, a left-handed batsman who now represents New Zealand, bowls slow left-arm orthodox. On November 16, 2015, he played his first ODI for Hong Kong against the United Arab Emirates in the 2015–17 ICC World Cricket League Championship. He debuted for New Zealand in T20I and ODI matches in February 2018.

Chapman was born in Hong Kong to a New Zealander father and a Hong Kongese mother. For the Hong Kong government, his father Peter served as crown prosecutor, while his mother Anne worked in finance. He attended Island School in Hong Kong before turning 14 and enrolling at King’s College in Auckland. He later moved on to the University of Auckland to study engineering. At the 2010 Under-19 World Cup, he was a member of the Hong Kong under-19 squad.

On February 13, 2018, he played in his first T20I for New Zealand against England, making him the sixth cricketer to participate in T20Is for two different international sides. As a replacement for the injured Kane Williamson, Chapman was selected for New Zealand’s ODI team. Chapman debuted for New Zealand in an ODI on February 28 against England. With that, he joined a select group of cricketers who have played in ODIs for two different nations.

The ongoing New Zealand Tour of Pakistan series has seen Chapman deliver consistently strong performances. In the fifth and decisive Twenty20 encounter, which took place on Monday in Rawalpindi, he scored his first unbeaten hundred to help New Zealand defeat Pakistan by six wickets and tie the five-match series at 2-2. He scored 104 runs in 57 balls to help New Zealand recover from a perilous score of 73-4 and chase down a challenging total of 194 with four balls remaining.
