MI vs RCB, IPL 2023: Mumbai Indians skipper Rohit Sharma startled many when he came into the batting order at the number three against the Chennai Super Kings on Saturday afternoon. After posting a below-par total of 139/8 in 20 overs, the MI bowlers struggled as CSK completed the chase with 14 balls remaining. The visitors changed their batting order, starting with Cameron Green instead of their captain Rohit Sharma, but the change was unsuccessful. Rohit later gave an explanation of his decision to bat at position three during the post-game presentation. Follow IPL 2023 LIVE updates with InsideSport.IN
“We did what was comfortable for us. We lost Tilak Varma, we needed Indian batters to bat in the middle-overs, and tackle the spinners. That didn’t happen for us in the Powerplay, and it’s tough to come back from those situations. We didn’t bat well enough to get enough runs on the board,” Rohit said.
Rohit has been inconsistent throughout the season, scoring only 184 runs in his previous nine innings. However, he was removed on a second consecutive duck while batting at position three, unable to contribute any more runs to the total.

MI had lost three wickets in the Powerplay and may have been out of the game relatively quickly if it weren’t for left-handed batter Nehal Wadhera’s first IPL half-century of 64 and his partnerships with Suryakumar Yadav and Tristan Stubbs.
With the victory, Chennai Super Kings rose to second place in the standings with 13 points. Mumbai Indians, on the other hand, are still in sixth place with 10 points after ten games. Gujarat Titans currently lead the points table with 14 points.
