This is however, not the first time. JioCinema came under severe fire on Day 1 of IPL 2023. Frustrated users vented out their frustration on social media sharing that the streaming platform has crashed.

Viacom is providing free streaming of IPL 2023 on its OTT JioCinema after Reliance picked the majority of the IPL broadcasting rights (for 2023–2027) for a total of Rs 23,758 crore. Disney Star paid Rs 23,575 crore to acquire the television rights for the Indian region. For the first time, the two companies are telecasting the matches across various platforms in India and other regions.

JioCinema tweeted “We regret this issue.” in response to users. This is not the experience we want you to have. To help us resolve this matter, pls DM details of your OS, app version & your mobile no. We appreciate your patience & hope to resolve this at the earliest.” JioCinema’s Twitter account, in some cases, advised users to reinstall the app and give it another shot.
