IPL 2023: Mumbai Indians skipper Rohit Sharma showered accolades on Rajasthan Royals opener Yashasvi Jaiswal after the 21-year-old hammered his first century in the Indian Premier League on Sunday. During MI’s home game against RR, which also happened to be the IPL’s 1000th match, Jaiswal ignited the Wankhede Stadium with 16 fours and 8 sixes and reached the three-figure milestone in only 53 deliveries. The highest individual score of the season to date, he was eventually removed for a 62-ball 124 and solely took Rajasthan to a strong total of 212/7. Rohit was extremely impressed by the youngster’s striking prowess. Follow IPL 2023 LIVE updates with InsideSport.IN
“I watched him last year, he’s taken it to the next level. I asked him ‘where did you get the power from’. He said he’s been going to the gym, that’s good for him, India and RR,” Rohit said during the post-match presentation ceremony.

Even though RR lost the game, Jaiswal, who received the Player of the Match award, spoke out in favour of maintaining a healthy lifestyle during the presentation ceremony.
“When I completed my century, I didn’t know whether the ball went to the boundary. So I thanked God for everything. That was the highlight. Days like this definitely can happen. I want to focus on the process and work hard, and have the belief. I have been positive and am maintaining a good, fit lifestyle which is helping,” Jaiswal said.
The left-handed batter, who is now the season’s highest run-scorer with 428 runs at an average of 47.56 and a strike rate of 159.70, including a century and three half-centuries so far, may soon be seen playing for India. Furthermore, Jaiswal could establish a sort of record for an uncapped batter with at least five games left to play.
