SRH vs RR LIVE: SRH Captaincy – Bhuvneshwar Kumar will temporarily reclaim Sunrisers Hyderabad captaincy. With Aiden Markram out of the opener against Rajasthan Royals owing to South Africa vs Netherlands series, SRH needed a stand-in captain. Bhuvneshwar who had earlier led SRH in 7 games, will reclaim the role. SRH’s new captain Markram is expected to join the team on April 3. On Thursday, Bhuvneshwar Kumar represented Sunrisers Hyderabad at the captain’s photoshoot in Ahmedabad. Bhuvneshwar will also be there at the IPL 2023 Opening Ceremony on Friday.
Bhuvneshwar Kumar is the only player who has been with SRH since its inception in 2013. Since then, SRH have undergone a string of changes but only the pacer has survived. In the past, Bhuvi has also led the team. In 2019, he led SRH in 6 games and again last season when Kane Williamson left for home with a match to go. SRH have won only two of the seven games.
However, Aiden Markram isn’t the only player SRH will miss in the opener. Fellow South African Marco Jansen will also miss apart from Heinrich Klaasen. But SRH will have all other five overseas players available. Harry Brook, Glenn Phillips, Adil Rashid, Fazalhaq Farooqi and Akeal Hosein have already joined the squad for the opener.
