SuryaKumar Yadav has been a vital cog in the Mumbai Indians’ batting lineup for the last few seasons. He has been a consistent performer and one of the most reliable batters for the franchise. However, this season he was struggling with his form and couldn’t score runs in the first three matches. The Mumbai Indians’ management had faith in him and persisted with him, and he finally repaid their trust in the match against Kolkata Knight Riders.

The Mumbai Indians were chasing a challenging target of 186 runs, and SuryaKumar Yadav came to bat at number three. He started cautiously and took some time to settle in before unleashing his shots. He hit four elegant fours and three magnificent sixes in his innings of 45 runs off just 23 balls. His innings was a perfect blend of aggression and finesse. He played some delightful shots and ensured that Mumbai Indians were always in the game.

What made his innings even more special was that he was leading the side in the absence of regular captain Rohit Sharma. Leading a side is never easy, and when you are struggling with your form, it can be even more challenging. However, SuryaKumar Yadav led from the front and played a captain’s knock, which helped Mumbai Indians to a commanding position.

SKY Redeems Himself After Three Low Scores

In the first three innings of the season, SuryaKumar Yadav managed to score only 16 runs. In the opening match against the Royal Challengers Bangalore, he scored 15 runs, followed by a mere 1 run in the second match against the Chennai Super Kings. He failed to score any runs in the third game against the Delhi Capitals. However, in the fourth match against the KKR, Yadav played a captain’s innings and put the Mumbai Indians in a commanding position before getting out.

It is often said that form is temporary and class is permanent, SKY’s knock is a perfect example of this adage. He was struggling with his form in the first three matches, but he didn’t let it affect his confidence. He kept working hard in the nets, and when he got his chance, he grabbed it with both hands.

SKY’s innings also showed the importance of persistence and trust. The Mumbai Indians’ management could have dropped him after his poor run of form.
