M Chinnaswamy Stadium Pitch Report: RCB vs KKR – Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) will face-off against Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) in the 36th match of Indian Premier League 2023 (IPL 2023). The match is slated to be held at M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru, on Wednesday, April 26 from 7.30 PM onwards. The home team RCB has won three out of five games played on their home ground. So far this season, they have played seven matches and won four of them overall. In contrast, KKR has only won two games out of seven matches this season. In the upcoming encounter, both teams will try to score as many runs as possible and win the match by a significant margin while playing within the shorter boundaries of Bengaluru.

Royal Challengers Bangalore have had a great start to their IPL campaign, winning four out of seven matches and accumulating eight points. The top batting order of RCB is in sublime form, with Captain Faf du Plessis, Virat Kohli, and Glenn Maxwell scoring tons of runs and playing match-winning innings. However, the middle and lower-order batting line-up is a cause for concern. In the bowling department, apart from Mohammed Siraj, no other bowler has performed well.

On the other hand, the Kolkata Knight Riders have had a poor start to the 16th IPL season. They have lost five out of the seven matches they have played so far. However, KKR has shown immense fighting spirit, losing several games in closely fought encounters. Their bowlers have failed to perform well, giving away a lot of runs and also failing to defend the target.

M Chinnaswamy Stadium Pitch Report

Since the inception of Indian Premier League, the Royal Challengers Bangalore have been using the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru as their home ground. From 2008 to the present date, this venue has hosted 120 IPL matches.

In limited-overs cricket, the M Chinnaswamy Stadium pitch is favorable for batters with its small boundaries, resulting in high-scoring games. Despite this, leg spinners have a crucial role to play during the middle overs of the match.

The initial assistance on the pitch can benefit pacers, but their economy rate tends to increase as the game progresses. Bengaluru’s pitch favors the team batting second, as it is easier to chase targets. In night matches, choosing to bowl first can be a strategic move due to the possibility of dew affecting the ball later on.

Out of the 120 IPL matches played at this venue, the team chasing the total has won 63 times, while the team batting first has won 55 times, and two matches ended in no result.

The average first-inning score at this venue is 166 runs. The highest total ever recorded here is 263 runs, and the lowest is 82 runs, both scored by RCB.

At Bengaluru, winning the toss and electing to bowl first could be the strategy for both teams. With the strong batting and bowling line-ups of both teams, fans can expect an intense high-scoring match.
