IPL 2023: In the ongoing match between Gujarat Titans and Delhi Capitals, GT’s ace pacer Mohammed Shami proved his mettle by taking four crucial wickets. He conceded just 11 runs in his four overs. Shami’s spell was nothing short of extraordinary, and he played a significant role in putting GT in a commanding position. His brilliant display of bowling left the Delhi Capitals’ top order in shambles, with five of their key batsmen back in the pavilion in the first five overs. On the very first ball of the match, Shami dismissed Delhi Capitals’ opening batsman Philip Salt for a golden duck. Salt went for a blazing drive with minimal footwork to a gentle full out-swinging teaser outside off. Unfortunately, he could only manage a thick outside edge that flew straight to David Miller at cover. It was a dolly of a catch, and Salt was left to rue his poor shot selection.

In the third over of the innings, Shami struck again, dismissing Rilee Rossouw. This time, he bowled an absolute corker, a classic Test match outside edge that had nothing to do with T20 cricket. Shami got the ball to land on a good length and extract late away movement in the corridor of uncertainty. Rossouw felt for it and got a thick outside edge that was easily caught by wicketkeeper Wriddhiman Saha.

Shami’s next victim was Manish Pandey, who fell for just one run in the first ball of the fifth over. Shami once again bowled a beautiful delivery, curving the ball in from a length and wobbling it ever so slightly. Pandey tried to push it with his strong bottom hand, but he could only manage a thick outside edge. Saha timed his dive to perfection to complete a stunning one-handed catch to dismiss Pandey.

Shami’s fourth wicket came in the last ball of the fifth over when he dismissed Priyam Garg. This time, Shami bowled a full delivery swinging away in the outside off-channel. Garg did not move his feet much and played an all-hands drive. However, he only managed a thick edge that flew straight to Saha, who took his fourth catch of the innings. It was a brilliant display of swing bowling by Shami, who had the Delhi Capitals batsmen in all sorts of trouble.

Overall, Shami’s spell was nothing short of exceptional. He bowled with great control and accuracy, hitting the right areas consistently. His ability to swing the ball both ways made him virtually unplayable. It was a performance that showcased his talent and skill as a bowler and will be remembered for a long time to come.
