GT Playing XI vs MI: GT vs MI LIVE: WWLWLW – Defending Gujarat Titans have had a topsy-turvy season so far. They have not enjoyed home comforts but have won from tough situations. But as Hardik Pandya & Co aim for the playoff spot, they are set to take the horses-for-courses approach. At Narendra Modi Stadium, GT decided not to bring Alzarri Joseph in place of Noor Ahmad against Mumbai Indians. Follow IPL 2023 LIVE Updates on InsideSport.IN.
Gujarat Titans (Playing XI): Wriddhiman Saha(w), Shubman Gill, Hardik Pandya(c), Vijay Shankar, David Miller, Abhinav Manohar, Rahul Tewatia, Rashid Khan, Mohammed Shami, Noor Ahmad, Mohit Sharma
Gujarat Titans subs: Joshua Little, Dasun Shanaka, Shivam Mavi, Ravisrinivasan Sai Kishore, Srikar Bharat
However, with three foreigners in the line-up, it will be interesting to see whether GT hand IPL debut to Sri Lankan white-ball captain Dasun Shanaka as they need the batting reinforcement in the middle-order.
On a difficult Lucknow pitch means assessing GT’s batting performance won’t do justice to their quality. Before that abomination, GT played free-flowing knocks, dictated by Shubman Gill and Wriddhiman Saha from the top. With David Miller playing the finishing role, GT do not have any complaints in batting.
Abhinav Manohar too has done well while Vijay Shankar has proven to be an excellent veteran for GT so far. Noor Ahmad made an excellent case for himself bagging two wickets for just 18 runs in his 4 overs. Then what does need to change, one might ask? To be honest, nothing. Gujarat have played the Impact Player substitute well, adding a pacer while bowling and using an additional batter while batting.

But as they return to Ahmedabad, the only change they would like to make is adding a pacer instead of a spinner. Noor Ahmad did not fare well the last time he played at Motera, going for 29 runs in 15 balls he bowled. That could prompt Hardik Pandya to use either Joshua Little or someone like Dasun Shanaka if the Lankan captain is fit to bowl.
GT Playing XI vs MI: What to expect in GT vs MI?
- On a better batting surface, Gujarat Titans will bring back Alzarri Joseph.
- Even though Noor Ahmad bowled a superb spell of 2/18 in Lucknow, it was a pitch which would give nightmares to the best batters in the world.
- Hence, GT will go horse-for-courses, bringing back Joseph who has done well at the death to keep MI’s firing machines Cameron Green and Tim David silent.
- There is a case for Dasun Shanaka to make as GT are playing only with three foreigners.
- However, who should be dropped to make way for Shanaka is a question?
- Both Vijay Shankar and Abhinav Manohar have done well while Rahul Tewatia is an automatic choice.
- GT may very well keep their Indian options undisturbed.
Mohammad Shami will lead the attack as he has been the lynchpin in bowling. Rashid Khan with his favourable match-up (3/23 in 21 deliveries) against Rohit Sharma will be the key to stopping the Indian dasher.
