India Women Cricket Coach: Former Mumbai captain Amol Muzumdar is the frontrunner to replace Hrishikesh Kanitkar as the full-time coach of India Women’s Cricket Team. Kanitkar was the batting coach and filled in as the head coach after Ramesh Powar was moved to the National Cricket Academy (NCA) as the spin-bowling consultant just a month before the World Cup earlier this year. Kanitkar will move back to India men’s U19 & India A setup. Follow India Cricket Live Updates on InsideSport.IN.
Amol Muzumdar led Mumbai to Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy last season. However, he chose not to renew his contract. Instead, he has applied for the India women’s coach role. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) secretary Jay Shah announced last month that Harmanpreet Kaur & Co will get a full-time coach soon. Subsequently, BCCI invited applications for the same.
“We will soon issue advertisements for various positions for Team India (Senior Women) support staff. Best coaches will be roped in to help our players realise their full potential and achieve excellence on and off the field,” Jay Shah said in a tweet.
