IND vs WI T20 squad Released as Ajit Agarkar takes charge as chief selector

India will play 5-match T20 series against West Indies starting August 3. It will mark the beginning of a new cycle till T20 WC 2024.

Hardik Pandya will lead India as the Ajit Agarkar led selection committee named the squad for the IND vs WI T20 series. IPL stars Tilak Varma and Yashasvi Jaiswal earned their maiden call up, while Rinku Singh & Ruturaj Gaikwad were snubbed. Avesh Khan and Ravi Bishnoi also earned a recall to the team.

As the 5-match T20 series is the beginning of a new cycle which will continue till T20 World Cup 2024, the BCCI wanted to wait. The T20s begin on August 3 and the squad is likely to be out next week. Agarkar is currently on vacation and will take over as the chairman next week.

No Rohit & Virat for T20s

Sanju Samson, who is also back in the mix for World Cup 2023, is likely to be back in the T20 squad after an injury layoff from Team India. Suryakumar Yadav, who is also competing for a spot in the ODI team, will also return.
