IND vs WI: New vs Old

India have included new players such as Yashasvi Jaiswal, Ruturaj Gaikwad, and Mukesh Kumar. Among them, Jaiswal and new wicketkeeper Ishan Kishan are up for debuts. As for the fifth bowling option, a final call will be taken only on the match day morning, depending on weather conditions.

For West Indies, who are on a slump for nearly a decade now, it’s about getting things right and cause an unlikely upset. India have not lost a Test series in West Indies since 2002 and even though it’s unlikely that Windies can cause an upset, it is a chance for them to show the world that West Indies Cricket is not dead yet.

The upcoming match will mark the sixth Test match to be held at the venue, where red-ball games were introduced in 2011 during a match between India and the West Indies, which ended in a draw. The last Test match played at this venue took place six years ago in 2017.

Match Details

India vs West Indies 1st Test

Date & Time: 12-16 July, 7:30 PM IST

Venue: Windsor Park, Dominica

Pitch Report & Weather Forecast

Historically, the pitches at Windsor Park have been reminiscent of traditional Test wickets. On the first day of the match, the conditions generally favour the fast bowlers, offering assistance and movement. As the match progresses into the second and third days, the batsmen tend to find their footing. The pitch becomes more conducive for batting. However, as the match reaches its later stages, the pitch begins to assist the spinners on Day 4 & 5. It will provide turn and variable bounce.

According to the current weather forecast for Dominica, rain could play its part. But as per predictions, it will be partly sunny weather for Day 2, 3, and 4. However, there is a chance of rain on the first day (Wednesday, July 12) and the fifth day (Sunday, July 16). During this period, the maximum temperature is anticipated to range between 30°C to 32°C.
