Good news, DDCA Director confident Rishabh Pant can come back after World Cup

Good news, DDCA Director confident Rishabh Pant can come back after World Cup

Rishabh Pant is currently undergoing rehab at National Cricket Academy and the BCCI medical team remains hopeful that Pant will be back by the end of the year.

When will Rishabh Pant come back? There is good news. Delhi & District Cricket Association (DDCA) committee led by Director Shyam Sharma is happy with the progress the Indian youngster is making since his horrific car accident on December 30. Sharma is confident that Pant can make a comeback after World Cup 2023. Sharma and Harish Singla, another DDCA director, met India wicketkeeper-batter.

Pant is currently undergoing rehabilitation at National Cricket Academy (NCA), Bengaluru. He has been keeping his fans updated about his recovery through his social media posts. He is seen hitting the gym, walking without any external support and interacting with his teammates in his usual jovial manner.

“He is doing well in his recovery and now he is a lot better. There is a big question about his comeback as it takes time but I hope he will be back on the field as soon as possible,” Shyam Sharma told ANI.

Pant has demonstrated tremendous tenacity and determination in his recuperation. His admirers and followers have been following his progress, hoping that he returns soon to entertain them.

During the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023, Pant also accompanied his team Delhi Capitals in some of their matches and enjoyed the game from the stands. DC delivered an underwhelming performance without their skipper and finished last in the competition.

The wicket-keeper batter met with a car accident on the Delhi-Dehradun highway and had multiple injuries.

Following the accident, and after receiving initial treatment in Dehradun, he was airlifted to Mumbai for better and more specialised medical care.

When will Rishabh Pant come back?

There is no definitive answer to that question at the moment. Pant tore all three ligaments in his right knee. Hence, it will take a while for him to get back to player’s fitness.

At the moment, Pant can only walk without any support. But running and squatting are still months away.

“Rishabh’s progress is remarkable. But at this stage, it’s very difficult to say whether he will resume keeping straightaway. It may take 3 months once he returns to practice or may take more than 6 months. We are not sure. We all have to take this slowly. Rishabh is young and has a lot of time to play cricket. But with the kind of injury he has had, he cannot be rushed,” a BCCI official told InsideSport.

Pant’s comeback will depend on his progress. But even then, there is no timeline when can he come back as a wicketkeeper. It is likely that Pant will resume from domestic cricket before going back to the grind of international cricket.
