DC vs KKR, IPL 2023: Kolkata Knight Riders pacers Vaibhav Arora and Kulwant Khejroliya had the chance to meet their idol Dale Steyn after their team’s match against Hyderabad on April 14 at the Eden Gardens. The Proteas great, who currently serves as the bowling coach of Sunrisers Hyderabad, for which he spent five seasons as a player, was seen in a short clip delivering wise counsel to the young pacers on KKR’s official Instagram page. In a happier tone, Dale Steyn told the uncapped Indian bowlers that they could text or phone the former South African international whenever they wanted. “You got my number? Anytime you need help, just give me a call.” Steyn responded with a big smile and asked, “Really?Is it?” as Arora told the ace bowler about his first Instagram DP.
During the IPL 2023 mini-auction, the Knight Riders signed both pacer talents Vaibhav Arora and Kulwant Khejroliya. Arora made his IPL debut for Punjab Kings last year, appearing five times and taking three wickets. On the other side, Khejroliya has three IPL wickets under his belt and previously played for Royal Challenger Bangalore. However, they are still waiting for their first chance with the new franchise.
Dale Steyn belonged to a select class of pacers who could bowl with enough variety while still keeping a lethal speed of about 150 kph. Steyn had a noteworthy career in the Indian Premier League (IPL) from 2008 to 2020, representing a number of teams in addition to the Proteas. The right-arm fast played in 93 IPL games and claimed 97 total wickets.
