India vs West Indies schedule will remain unchanged even though Cricket West Indies (CWI) have to fly in players from Zimbabwe, forcing them to miss the World Cup 2023 Qualifiers final on July 9. CWI was concerned about four players who are playing in the CWC qualifiers and postponing the IND vs WI 1st Test by two days would have helped. However, with India facing a fixture pile-up after a month-long vacation, BCCI and CWI have agreed to continue as per the original schedule.
The 1st Test will begin on July 12 in Dominica and the tour will end with the 5th T20 in Florida, US.
“No, there is no change in the schedule. CWI was facing some logistical issues. But they are taking care of it. And even a slight change in the schedule could hamper the entire tour,” a BCCI official told InsideSport.

As the CWC Qualifiers final is on July 9 and it would have taken the likes of Jason Holder, Kyle Mayers, Roston Chase, and Alzarri Joseph — the multi-format players at least two days to travel from Harare to Roseau, capital city of Dominica, there was a chance of rejigging the schedule.
To avoid players missing the 1st Test, CWI will pull the Test players from the CWC qualifiers final. Finishing in Top 2 will give the team an automatic qualification to the World Cup 2023 in October. Hence, the final won’t carry much value.
“The final of the CWCQ is meaningless, so our Test players won’t participate, but first we need to make sure we reach the final,” a CWI official told Cricbuzz earlier.
Meanwhile, Rohit Sharma & Co will assemble in Barbados by July 2 with two practice games scheduled before the first Test. Most of the players are holidaying in the UK and will reach the destination in different batches.
