Pat Cummins missed the ODI series with his mother Maria Cummins losing the battle to cancer. Even though Cummins was supposed to be back for the ODI series, he stayed back.
Team India’s run as the World No 1 ends. Despite 113 points in the kitty, same as Australia, the Aussies will take the top spot when ICC updates the ODI rankings. The Men in Blue had won their last 8 bilateral ODI series. But with the loss in Chennai, their record run also ends. India took 1-0 lead before Australia thrashed India in Vizag and followed it up with a comprehensive win in Chennai.

India had not lost a home ODI series since 2019. It was Australia who ended India’s run then and they have repeated their feat again. The Virat Kohli-captained side had taken a 2-0 lead in the five-match series before a stunning comeback saw the Aussies win the series 3-2. India have since then not lost a bilateral series at home.
