Australia will return to the 50-over format after almost three months. The last time the Aussies played ODI cricket was in November 2022, when they swept England 3-0 at home. Now, the Kangaroos will take on Men in Blue in a three-match ODI series starting at the Wankhede on March 17. In a big blow, captain Pat Cummins will miss the ODI series due to the demise of his mother.

In the absence of Pat Cummins, Steve Smith will lead the side. Steve Smith had led the side in the last two matches of the Border Gavaskar Trophy, in which he won one match and one match ended as a draw.

Cameron Green recently had a good run. He smashed a century against India in the Test series and he was handy with the ball too. On the other hand, Marcus Stoinis has cemented his place in the Australian team. With no Alex Carey, Australia have decided to go with both seam-bowling all-rounders.

In addition to the Australian squad, star all-rounder Glenn Maxwell has recovered from his injury. Maxwell will provide a much-needed boost in the middle order and he’ll be ready to spin the ball on the track. Mitchell Marsh has also recovered from the injury and will be available for the selection.

Travis Head will open Australia’s inning with Mitchell Marsh. David Warner is still recovering from the injury while Marsh will play as a pure batter. With neither Cummins nor Hazlewood available, Mitchell Starc will lead the fast bowling. In the spin bowling department, fit-again Maxwell will be their second spinner behind Adam Zampa.
