Cricket Australia to celebrate Australia-India relationship with gala event in Chennai

This will be the first five-match IND vs AUS Test series since the 1991-92 tour

With less than six months until India’s tour of Australia for the Border-Gavaskar Trophy, the Centre for Australia-India Relations (CAIR) and the Australian Consulate-General in Chennai, in partnership with the Australian Government and Cricket Australia (CA), will host a special event in Chennai on May 25th.

Australia is gearing up to welcome India for a historic five-match Test series, beginning November 22nd in Perth. Notably, this will be the first five-match IND vs AUS Test series since the 1991-92 tour.

The Chennai event will not only commemorate the cricketing history between India and Australia but will also offer fans a chance to witness the series live. It will feature the promotion of premium travel packages and experiences related to the cricket tour. Esteemed guests, including former Indian cricketer Sunil Gavaskar and notable Australian cricketers, are expected to attend, adding to the event’s significance.

Border-Gavaskar Trophy to kick off on November 22

The IND vs AUS series will kick off with the opening Test in Perth from November 22 to 26. The action then shifts to Adelaide for a thrilling day-night match from December 6-10. Following Adelaide, Brisbane will host the third Test, leading up to the iconic Boxing Day Test in Melbourne. The series will culminate with the New Year’s Test in Sydney, adhering to the cherished traditions of Australian cricket.

India has dominated the Border-Gavaskar Trophy in recent years, winning it four times consecutively. They have also triumphed in the last two Test series in Australia, becoming the only Asian team to achieve this feat on Australian soil. However, Australia, led by Pat Cummins, secured a victory over India in the World Test Championship final in London in 2023.

  • 1st Test – 22nd to 26th Nov, Perth.
    2nd Test – 6th to 10th Dec, Adelaide (D/N).
    3rd Test – 14th to 18th Dec, Gabba.
    4th Test – 26th to 30th Dec, MCG.
    5th Test – 3rd to 7th Jan, Sydney.
