Cricket Australia decides to uplift David Warner’s lifetime ban

David Warner was slapped with a leadership Ban back in 2018 for playing an active role in the sandpapergate saga

Cricket Australia has finally decided to upturn David Warner‘s ban. The lifetime leadership ban that was imposed on the destructive southpaw has been lifted effective immediately by Cricket Australia. An independent three-member review panel comprising Greg Chappell and Kane Willaimson took the decision.

The member panel decided that the player had met all the conditions that were necessary to get his ban lifted. Back in 2018, David Warner was banned by Cricket Australia after he was found guilty of ball tampering in the infamous sandpaper-gate saga against South Africa.

David warner had lodged an appeal to Cricket Australia and now after review, it was determined that a “unanimous view that he was sincere and genuine in acknowledging responsibility for the conduct and in his statement that he had extreme remorse for his conduct”.

“The contribution that Mr Warner has made, and can make in the future, towards the development of young cricketers in Australia if they were given the opportunity to be led by Mr Warner, his important continuing role in fostering interest in cricket especially with the South Asian community in Australia and generally,” the panel further added.

As far as Tets Cricket is concerned, David Warner announced his retirement earlier this year, after he played at Sydney against Pakistan. However, last week, David Warner expressed his desire to make a comeback to red-ball cricket for the upcoming Border Gavaskar Trophy.
