Cricket Australia has announced contracts for 23 players which includes young sensation Sam Konstas and spinner Kunhemann

Cricket Australia has announced the list of its contracted players for the 2025/26 season. While most of the seniors have been retained, two new faces have been inducted. Sam Konstas, who had a memorable debut in the Boxing Day Test, has bagged his maiden contract.

Alongside Konstas, spinner Matthew Kunhemann has also been handed a contract. The spinner tasted stellar success in Sri Lanka following which he was reported for suspect action. He recently was cleared to bowl after passing the reassessment test.

In Sam we see promising upside in a young player who will continue to develop at first class level and in the international environment,” chief selector George Bailey said.

23 players have been offered the contract. Meanwhile, Todd Murphy, Sean Abbott and Aaron Hardie were dropped. Matt Short and Mitchell Marsh have also been handed contracts despite performing inconsistently over the last year.

Australia will next take on South Africa in the World Test Championship (WTC) in June at the Lord’s. After that, they will gear up for the high-octane Ashes series against England.
