Credit to KKR? IPL franchise investment in Rinku Singh finally showing colors

Rinku was KKR's leading run-scorer in IPL 2023 and is now also set to make his ODI debut in the IND vs SA series.

Rinku Singh has been a revelation for the India Cricket Team and their fans. The 26-year-old has taken international cricket by storm, making everything look so easy. In his short 11 matches, Rinku averages over 80 and strikes the ball over 180. Yes, those are his astonishing numbers.

Team India’s new designated finisher was in fine touch yesterday as well. Joining skipper Suryakumar Yadav in the middle after India lost their third wicket by the end of the power play, Rinku Singh jogged in as if it were his 100th match. The southpaw notched his maiden fifty and announced himself as the definite for the T20 World Cup 2024 squad.

But the question is, who gets credit for the massive turnaround in his life? Do the Kolkata Knight Riders deserve the praise for giving India Rinku Singh? Does the batter owe his rags-to-riches story to his IPL franchise?

Does KKR get credit for Rinku Singh success?

Rinku Singh deserves all the praise for his hard work and dedication. But it won’t be far-fetched to say that the Kolkata Knight Riders gave the cricketer from Uttar Pradesh the platform he needed to showcase his skills.

Rinku has only played cricket for KKR in the IPL. Having first joined them in 2018, he was forgetful for his first three years with the franchise. Eventually, the batter was let out. However, the franchise had promised Rinku Singh that they’d get him back, and so they did in the IPL 2022 auction.

Since then, Rinku has scored around 650 runs for the franchise and was their highest run-scorer in IPL 2023.

Having bought him in 2018 and backed him for 4 years before the result kicked in, KKR deserves credit for what Rinku Singh is doing and will do for the India Cricket Team.
