CPL 2021: Faf du Plessis returns to form ahead of IPL 2021, slams quickfire century ahead of IPL 2021 Phase 2 in UAE: The UAE phase of IPL 2021 is around the corner and franchises have already started prepping for it. While most of the IPL squads are practicing on UAE pitches, some of the T20 power hitters have already started giving glimpses of their solid form in the ongoing edition of the Caribbean Premier League.
Just a couple of days ago, Punjab Kings’ Nicholas Pooran played a blistering knock of 41 off 26 deliveries for Guyana Amazon Warriors, including five massive sixes. And now, it’s CSK’s Faf du Plessis who lit up the St Kitts ground with his maiden CPL hundred!
The fifteenth match of the CPL 2021 witnessed table-topper St Kitts and Nevis Patriots taking on St Lucia Kings at Warner Park, Basseterre, St Kitts on Saturday. Put into bat, St Lucia Kings’ skipper Faf du Plessis slammed a blistering hundred and gave his side a flying start. On his way to a 25-ball fifty, Faf du Plessis slammed eight fours and one maximum striking at a rate of 200.
Prior to this game, Faf du Plessis was looking a bit rusty as he had scores of 0, 10, and 14 respectively. But he looked at his best against St Kitts and Nevis Patriots. The CSK opener returned unbeaten on 120 off 60 deliveries at a strike rate of 200.00, including thirteen fours and five massive sixes. His first CPL hundred!

Ahead of the CPL 2021, Faf du Plessis suffered from a concussion in the Pakistan Super League (PSL) in June this year. The veteran South African batsman ended up injuring himself on the field during the match in the PSL 2021. He was taken to a hospital in Abu Dhabi soon after his tragic collision with Quetta Gladiators teammate Mohammad Hasnain during a game.
“It has been a tough three months. I didn’t expect it to take this long and I also didn’t expect it to be quite as severe. But I feel like I am at the end of it, which really is pleasing for myself,” Du Plessis said in a recent interaction as quoted by India Today.
“There’s a lot of cricket this year that I still need to play. As I mentioned earlier, missing three months of cricket is not something that is very nice. So I am just really looking forward to getting back out on the field,” he added.
Du Plessis was in sensational form during the first phase of IPL 2021. Chennai Super Kings opener had amassed 320 runs in 7 matches at a strike rate of 145+. He is expected to continue his stellar knocks in the remaining fixture of IPL 2021 Phase 2 in UAE.
Faf Du Plessis and other players who are taking part in CPL 2021 are expected to join their respective squads once the tournament culminates. The CPL 2021 Final will be played on September 15 in St Kitts.
