CPL 2021 BR vs TKR: Knight Riders captain Pollard’s 58* makes light work of Barbados Royals after Isuru Udana fifer- Trinbago Knight Riders returned to winning ways on Saturday as they clinched a convincing win over the Barbados Royals in the ongoing CPL T20. Isuru Udana picked up a five-wicket haul to restrict the Royals to just 122 before Kieron Pollard scored an entertaining 58* to see his side over the line. The defending champions will be pleased with the result having suffered a humiliating defeat against the Guyana Amazon Warriors in the opener.

Chasing 123 to win, the Trinbago Knight Riders were in all sorts of trouble after Mohammad Amir put on a show with a three-over spell in the powerplay. The left-arm pacer accounted for Sunil Narine, Lendl Simmons and Colin Munro which the Knight Riders reeling at 38/4 after eight overs. However, Kieron Pollard joined forces with Denesh Ramdin to stitch an unbeaten 87-run stand, with the defending champions chasing down the total with 19 balls to spare. Pollard raced to an unbeaten 58 not out, taking a particular liking towards counterpart Jason Holder and Thisara Perera, in an inning laced with six sixes. Ramdin meanwhile held fort at the other end, scoring a 31-ball 29.

The Barbados Royals got off to a cautious start with Johnson Charles and Glenn Philips biding their time at the crease before Isuru Udana broke their backs with a two-over spell that saw the openers and captain Jason older depart in quick succession. Shai Hope and Azam Khan attempted to rebuild the innings, but their partnership was broken by Akeal Hosein, while Sunil Narine put an end to Kyle Mayers stay. Udana then delivered the crucial blow, getting Thisara Perera and Azam Khan in the same over in a spell that ended with five wickets for just 21 runs.  Rampaul cleaned up the tail to restrict Royals to just 122, which eventually proved to be an easy chase for the Knight Riders.
