Senior Pakistani batter Umar Akmal recalled his tough time after being suspended back in 2020 for breaching PCB’s anti-corruption code. Akmal stated that it was a very hard time for him and family members. To note, Akmal played his last international match back in 2019 but hopes to make a comeback in the national team.

Not even my enemies should face that time: Umar Akmal on his ‘Ban’ period
“No one, not even my enemies, should have to face that the time that I did. Allah tests a person by giving or taking something. However, when I was going through a bad phase, a lot of people revealed their true colours and left my side. But I am thankful to those who still stand beside me,” Akmal was quoted by GeoNews as saying.
“I could not send my daughter to school for eight months and my wife did not let me down during these tough days,” he recalled, saying that he gets tears in his eyes whenever he thinks about those days. “My wife was born with a golden spoon but she told me that she will always be supportive of me no matter how bad the situation gets and I am thankful to her for that,” he added.
The wicketkeeper-batter featured last in an international match in 2019. However, Akmal still has the passion to play for the country as the 33-year-old said that he will deliver the results with his hard work. As mentioned above, the destructive batter was suspended by the PCB in 2020.
Akmal had to face the ban period of three years. However, he filed an appeal to the International Court of Arbitration which resulted in reduction of his ban from three years to just 12 months. The veteran batter played some decent cameos for the Quetta Gladiators in the last concluded PSL edition.
