The IND vs BAN series starts in two days from now, and there’s a lot of buzz around the team combination, or the playing XI for the first Test in Chennai. While the batting order looks quite clear, it is the bowling department, especially the pace bowling department, that needs a bit of a thought.
Jasprit Bumrah picks himself without any doubt, but it’s a tussle between Mohammed Siraj and Akash Deep, with the latter giving a good account of himself in the Duleep Trophy first round, where he bagged 9 wickets in the match. During a press conference of Tuesday, India skipper Rohit Sharma said, “It’s good to have majority of the squad here and we want to start the season on a high. We will pick the 11 basis the kind of cricket we want to play and how to win the Test.”
Jasprit Bumrah’s Work-load Management
Moving on, it is widely accepted that Bumrah is the best all-format bowler in the world. He picks wickets, irrespective of the venue, pitch, conditions, and opposition and will be instrumental in India’s chances for the IND vs BAN series as well. But with his kind of action, and history of injuries, one needs to be careful with how many matches he should be playing.

Upon being asked about Bumrah’s work-load management, Rohit said, “We will manage their workload, when can we give them a break. We will speak to the physios. We also have exciting players coming in from Duleep Trophy as well.”
