Pakistan pacer Mohammad Amir will make a comeback in the T20I series against New Zealand. The 17-member squad has been announced for the series against the Kiwis that will be played between April 18-27. Apart from Amir, Usman Khan and uncapped middle-order batter Muhammad Irfan Khan have also been included in the squad for the series.
PAK vs NZ: Amir to make comeback as squad announced
Amir, who last played for Pakistan in August 2020 at Old Trafford against England, has played in 50 T20Is in which he has taken 59 wickets at an economy-rate of 7.02. UAE batter Usman Khan, who was banned recently, has also been included in the squad.
“The decision to include Imad Wasim and Mohammad Amir was a straightforward one, given their availability for selection and considering Haris Rauf’s injury and Mohammad Nawaz’s current form. Both Amir and Imad possess undeniable match-winning capabilities, and we trust they will consistently deliver strong performances to bolster the team’s objectives,” Wahab Riaz says.
Babar Azam returns as PAK skipper
Babar Azam has returned as the white-ball skipper for the side, a crucial decision that has been made ahead of the T20 World Cup 2024. He replaces Shaheen Afridi as the captain. It is to be noted that Afridi was replaced after leading the side in just one series as the skipper.
