Class Act! Cricket spirit soars as Steve Smith assists West Indies debutant on field

Smith was dismissed by Shamar on the debutant's first ball in international cricket and ended his first outing as an opener in disappointment.

Steve Smith may have been dismissed by debutant Shamar Joseph on his first international ball, but the Test great showed he has no ill will towards the fast bowler. With the West Indies resuming their batting at the start of Day 3 of the AUS vs WI 1st Test, Joseph came in to bat with them, 94-9.

The score might not have been what he wanted to come out and bat at, but it was still a dream debut for him with the bowl in hand. But what Shamar Joseph will remember forever is Steve Smith and his warm gesture toward him.

After smashing Josh Hazlewood for a boundary, Joseph looked to have untied his laces. Gesturing for some help from the fielder, it was Steve Smith who came and helped the debutant.

The gesture warmed the hearts of the crowd, which gave a small applause to Smith while the batter chuckled as he made his way back to the slip region.
