Rohit Sharma broke several records yesterday in his sublime 131 against Afghanistan in the World Cup. He scored the fastest-ever hundred by an Indian in the World Cups. The India skipper also scored the joint fastest 1000 runs in the WC and currently holds the record for most hundreds in the WC (7). However, along with these records, Rohit also went past sixer King Chris Gayle’s record of most sixes in international cricket. The Universe Boss took to Twitter to congratulate Rohit.
Gayle said Congrats, “@ImRo45– Most Sixes in International cricket. #45 Special.” To note, the Caribbean Superstar held the record for scoring most sixes in international cricket.

When quizzed Rohit about breaking Gayle record’s, the former India captain said, “When I started playing the Game I never thought that I would be able to hit sixes. Leave alone that many sixes,” Rohit said on the BCCI.tv.
“There is a lot of work that has gone in over the years. I am quite happy with the work I have done in so many years.
“I am the sort of person I will not be satisfied. I want to continue to do what I have been doing. My focus will be on continuing to do what I do. But yeah, it’s a small little happy moment for me,” he said.
Rohit Sharma lavishes praise on Chris Gayle
While Gayle comes across as the most fearful batter, Rohit has flown under the radar as the six-hitting machine. With the Indian skipper making batting look ridiculous, Rohit has not got the tag of ‘Sixer King.’
However, Rohit lavished praise on Gayle and said, “Over the years, we have seen him. He is such a six-hitting machine, wherever he plays. We wear the same jersey No 45 and No 45 has done it. I am sure he will be happy about it.”
