Chris Gayle gives massive update on Virat Kohli’s ODI Future after World Cup

Chris Gayle gives massive update on Virat Kohli’s ODI Future after World Cup

Chris Gayle also speaks about India being favorites to win ODI World Cup 2023

Virat Kohli: Like Sachin Tendulkar was carried off by Virat Kohli on his shoulders alongside his teammates, fans want the same for Kohli who is set to play his second home World Cup in 2023 and probably his last. The former India captain, who will turn 35 on November 5, has not spoken about this being his last 50-Over World Cup. Chris Gayle, who is close to Kohli and has followed him closely, feels the RCB superstar is not done yet.

The Caribbean superstar believes the former India captain will play one more World Cup in 2027 and then probably will call time on his cricket. “Virat Kohli still has another World Cup in him. I don’t think this is going to be his last World Cup. I think he has another World Cup in him,” Gayle said to the Times of India.

The RCB superstar will turn 39 when India plays the next 50-over World Cup in 2027. Interestingly, Tendulkar had won his first WC at that age. Kohli is one the fittest cricketers going around, and if the legendary batter keeps up to the insane fitness standards, then Gayle’s prediction might come true.

Virat Kohli: Gayle thinks Virat Kohli-powered India favorites to win World Cup 2023

Like several experts and fans, Gayle thinks India are favorites to win the showpiece event due to playing at home. However, with India boasting a plethora of young players, Gayle wants to see the squad BCCI selectors pick for World Cup. Yashasvi Jaiswal, Rinku Singh, Ruturaj Gaikwad, Arshdeep Singh, and Umran Malik are knocking on the doors of selection.

“India are favorites, they play at home as well. So, it’s going to be very interesting. We want to see the team they’re actually going to select. First of all, the squad they’re going to select because a lot of people are knocking on the door as well. So, that’s something that carries the pressure over to the India team as well.”

India will kick off their WC campaign by playing against Australia on October 8.
