Chris Cairns Biggest Comeback: New all-rounder survives heart attack, plans to go Malaysia in March – Known for his fighting skills with bat and ball in hand, Cairns displayed the same grit, determination, and character to defy odds and won the mini-battle. Not only heart attack, but Cairns fought spinal stroke, & and bowel cancer. Not too long ago, it was unclear whether Cairns could survive. Now, the former cricketer is planning to go on a holiday in Malaysia in March.
Chris Cairns’s timeline of health issues
After a heart attack in August 2021, Cairns suffered an aortic dissection that forced him into life support in Sydney. Later, a stroke in his spine during four open-heart surgeries left him paralyzed from the waist down. He was making progress and shared his rehabilitation on social media.
He had also reported a positive flickering in the right ankle in October. The father of four enjoyed a two-night clearance from the Hospital to celebrate Christmas with family before his discharge.
