It’s been more than two years since Bengaluru hosted a Test match. But instead of ecstasy, everything will be gloomy. The India vs New Zealand 1st Test is under threat. Much like Green Park, we might not see action at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium for the first three days. However, unlike Kanpur, where the skies cleared up on the third and fourth days, things aren’t looking that great in Bengaluru.
On the eve of the match, the practice sessions were first delayed and then cancelled due to rain. Team India were to start training at 9:30 AM, but they didn’t even reach the stadium with the clock nearing noon. The only good thing is that the drainage at the Chinnaswamy Stadium is impeccable. If rain stops, the ground can be readied in a couple of hours. We aren’t going to see a Kanpur-like situation, that’s sure, but that’ll only happen if it stops to precipitate.
