Cheteshwar Pujara preps for Ranji Trophy 2024, trains hard after India’s Centurion loss

Cheteshwar Pujara shared a post on his 'X' handle, writing 'Ranji Trophy prep mode' after India's Test defeat against Proteas in Centurion.

Cheteshwar Pujara shared a post of his preparation for the upcoming Ranji Trophy 2024 tournament. The veteran Indian batter was omitted from India’s squad for two-match Test series against South Africa.

After India’s humiliating loss in the 1st Test of IND vs SA by an innings and 32 runs in Centurion, cricket analysts advocated Pujara’s inclusion in the team.

Pujara will join his team Saurashtra for the Ranji Trophy starting on 5 January. Since the time Pujara has been removed from India’s Test squad, he has been trying his best to make a comeback.

Pujara had performed brilliantly in last-county cricket in England.

The right-hand batter has scored 7195 runs in 103 Test matches at an average of 43.60.

Harbhajan Singh had slammed the team selection for removing Pujara from the Test team.

Harbhajan Singh said, “Didn’t select Ajinkya Rahane and have left Cheteshwar Pujara out for no reason.”

“These are the two players who have scored runs everywhere. If you look at the previous record Pujara has the same contribution as Kohli had. I don’t understand why Pujara has been left out, we still don’t have a better batter than Puajra in Test cricket. He plays slowly but he saves you, because of him India won Test in Australia and England,” said Harbhajan.
