While he did not reveal anything that was not already known, players including two captains Hardik Pandya and Rohit Sharma were furious.

What’s the story behind the Big Sting? – The journalists concealed their identities and approached Sharma for an OTT project. The 8-Episode docu-series would have been on the lines of The Test in Australia which has become widely popular.
After initially refusing, Chetan Sharma was told that the big project has BCCI’s blessings. However, Chetan was still not convinced about speaking to the journalists. But after multiple seatings, Sharma finally opened up as he was told it will completely off the record. And the journalists wanted to know what was going on behind the scenes to have a better understanding and create a content strategy.
Here, he might feel cheated, as Chetan Sharma was asked to be candid. And as he did, it opened up a pandora’s box.
“Of course, it will be very difficult for players or even officials to give interviews off the record because you don’t know when and how someone is pointing a camera at you. It creates distrust. What Chetan did was foolish without checking proper credentials. But you guys (media personnel) should also be mindful of media ethics,” a BCCI official earlier told InsideSport.

Another senior BCCI official confirmed that he had lost trust of not just the BCCI but also senior players and head coach Rahul Dravid.
“Coach Rahul Dravid, captains Rohit Sharma and Hardik Pandya have completely lost faith in him. He couldn’t have possibly sat across the table along with them for selection committee meetings as he had lost all respect. He paid the price for being a big mouth,” a BCCI source told PTI.
Chetan Sharma Sting Operation Highlights: What beans did Chetan Sharma spill?
- One big talking point that was highlighted was that many Indian Cricketers including some big names take injections to pass fitness tests.
- They get injections from private doctors to make up for full fitness even if they are not 100% fit.
- However, the injections are not banned by WADA or are performance-enhancement drugs.
- That way, players try to keep their place in the Indian team with tremendous competition for places.
- Chetan Sharma also revealed that, it is almost impossible to keep track of 2500+ cricketers on their whereabouts.
- The other big talking point was of Virat Kohli vs Sourav Ganguly.
- While Kohli felt Ganguly forced him out of ODI captaincy, the former BCCI supremo felt disrespected.
- Kohli gave an explosive press conference before leaving for South Afric, calling Ganguly a liar.
- Sharma said it was the result of an ego tussle between the two former captains.
- He also revealed that even though Kohli has relinquished captaincy, Indian team dressing room is still divided into two groups.
- Virat Kohli leads one group while Rohit Sharma is leader of the other. But there is no rift between the two stars and Rohit is very easy going.
- On the injury front, Sharma accused Jasprit Bumrah of hiding injury and play in the South Africa series ahead of T20 World Cup. He did that to keep spot in T20 WC squad.
- He also revealed that stars like Deepak Hooda, Hardik Pandya and Umesh Yadav visit his house and request him to keep their places.
