The selection committee was supposed to sit with the head coach Rahul Dravid and captain Rohit Sharma to pick the teams for last two Tests and the three-match ODI series. However, BCCI is likely to bar Sharma from attending the meeting until the internal enquiry is complete. If Chetan Sharma is denied permission to attend meetings, Shiv Sundar Das will be the interim chairman.
BCCI Selection Committee:

Chetan Sharma Sting Operation Highlights: The chief selector is in hot waters after a TV Sting operation. Sharma spoke to an undercover reporter about how India cricket operates.
- Indian Cricketers take injections from private doctors to pass fitness tests even if they are not 100% fit.
- The injections are not prescribed by the BCCI medical team.
- The injections contain drugs but they are not banned by WADA or is a performance enhancement drugs.
- Unfit players manage to keep their places in the Indian team that way.
- Virat Kohli felt ex-BCCI chief Sourav Ganguly forced him out of ODI captaincy.
- That is why he gave an explosive press conference, calling Ganguly a liar. There was an ego tussle between the two former captains.
- Indian team dressing room is still divided into groups. Virat Kohli is still the leader of one group while Rohit Sharma is of the other. But there is no rift between them.
- Jasprit Bumrah was unfit to play in the South Africa series ahead of T20 World Cup. Yet, he hid the severity of the injury to keep spot in T20 WC squad.
- Cricketers visit his house to request him to keep them in the team.
- Deepak Hooda, Hardik Pandya and Umesh Yadav allegedly visited Chetan’s house.

All the allegations are not explosive and somewhat already known to the public even before the sting operation. However, spilling the beans in public with no pressure has its own demerits. Players hiding injuries to keep their places in the team is not new. Even former India captain Sourav Ganguly was accused of the same earlier.
But now that the chief selector has made it public, accusing the players of taking injections and hiding injuries, it has put the players in bad light. Furthermore, he has accused two captains of favouritism in team selection for matches.
BCCI Probe: With Australian team currently on the tour of India, BCCI is embarrassed that it has come out in the public. While there has been no harm done or any allegation of match-fixing, it is still enough to damage reputation. However, with Chetan Sharma also suffering reputation damage, it is possible that he will step down from the chairman of the selection committee post.
“His days are obviously numbered. It will be very difficult for the players to trust him after his words came public. But it will be decided only after the internal investigation. But there is a possibility that he quits himself,” the BCCI official told InsideSport.
