The Chase Master is at it again. Virat Kohli has notched up his 37th ODI fifty in a chase to continue his brilliant run of form. After being rested from the first two India vs Australia ODIs, Kohli returned to continue his form, smashing 61-ball 51. As India chase 353 runs in the IND vs AUS 3rd ODI, he has set the tone after Rohit Sharma scored 57-ball 81. His form is crucial ahead of World Cup.
It was also Virat Kohli’s 12th half-century against Australia, his favourite opponent. While he did not complete the chase, Kohli did enough to set the stage for the likes of Shreyas Iyer and KL Rahul.
Against Australia, Kohli has a superb record of scoring 2,228 runs in 47 matches at 53.04 average. He also has 12 fifties and eight centuries against the mighty Aussies in ODIs.
With India set to open their World Cup campaign against Australia on October 8 in Chennai, Virat Kohli will be eager to inch closer to Sachin Tendulkar. The King of Indian cricket has 47 centuries and he is just two tons away from equalling Tendulkar.
If he gets three centuries in the World Cup, Kohli will set the record of most centuries in ODIs, a record that never looked possible to even go close.
