Charith Asalanka to lead 16-man Sri Lanka ODI squad vs India, no space for Matthews & Shanaka

The first ODI between Sri Lanka and India is scheduled to be played on August 2.

Skipper Asalanka and returning Chamika Karunaratne shape the rest of the batting order. Wanindu Hasaranga and Dunith Wellalage, who took a fifer against India in Asia Cup 2023, are the two main spin-bowling all-rounders. Meanwhile, strong bowling pack include Maheesh Theekshana, Dilshan Madushanka, Matheesha Pathirana and Asitha Fernando.

No Angelo Matthews, Dasun Shanaka

Among the omissions are Angelo Matthews and Dasun Shanaka. Both were part of the ODI World Cup 2023 in India as well. For Shanaka, he was ruled out midway of the tournament due to an injury. However, was dropped from the team right after. Among other notable exclusions are Dushmantha Chameera and Nuwan Thusara, who got injured before the T20Is..
