Ranji Trophy: Nitish Rana slams ton, opens upon decision to switch to UP from Delhi

Despite playing 43 First Class matches for Delhi, Nitish Rana continues to shine for Uttar Pradesh in domestic cricket. The Kolkata Knight Riders batter hammered a sensational ton against Mumbai in the ongoing Ranji Trophy clash. Owing to the toxic dressing room atmosphere, Rana decided to make his switch to UP in 2023.

After slamming his ton on Day 2 of the Ranji Trophy round, Rana opened up on his decision to leave the Delhi team. He claimed the toxic dressing room was harmful for his career. As a result, Rana made his switch to Uttar Pradesh.

“It was in my mind that the dressing room atmosphere of the Delhi team was not good for my career. I felt that a change was necessary for my career,” said Rana after the end of Day 2.

I have always looked at UP as an Elite team, and I know people here. Luckily I have got a team where I am getting respect,” Rana concluded.

Leading the team from the front, skipper Nitish Rana helped Uttar Pradesh take the most needed first innings lead. Mumbai were bundled out for 198. Uttar Pradesh too fumbled but Rana’s terrific century was crucial for UP to score 324 runs on the board. Rana slammed 12 fours and 5 sixes in his century innings.
