The Punjab Police has come up with a comprehensive security arrangement for the Champions Trophy, for the Lahore and Rawalpindi Stadiums, as per a report in The News. As many as 12,000 security personnel will be deployed in these venues/cities, to ensure proper security to the visiting players.
Lahore & Rawalpindi to Host 6 Champions Trophy Matches
This will include 18 senior officers, 54 DSPs, 135 inspectors, 1200 upper subordinates, 10,556 constables and 200 female officers. Both venues — Rawalpindi and Lahore will host three matches each. The former will host matches on Feb 24, 25 an 27, while Lahore will host matches on Feb 22, 26, and March 5.
Alone, 8000 officers/personnel will be deployed for the matches in Lahore, that will include 12 senior officers, 39 DSPs, 86 inspectors, 700 upper subordinates, and 6,673 constables, with 129 lady constables. As for Rawalpindi, the division is as follows — 5000 officers in all.
Massive Security Arrangements in Pakistan
Six senior officers, 15 DSPs, 50 inspectors, 500 upper subordinates, 4000 constables, and approximately 100 female personnel. In addition to that, IG Punjab Police assured that full security will be provided to all the players, officials and the fans. He added, that the search, sweep, combing and intelligence-based operations were already undergoing around players’ residences, routes and stadiums.
As far as the Champions Trophy 2025 schedule is concerned, the much-anticipated tournament will kick off on Feb 19 in Karachi with hosts Pakistan playing against New Zealand. India will play all their matches in Dubai, and the India vs Pakistan match will be held on Feb 23.
