The excitement for the India vs Pakistan clash in the ICC Champions Trophy has kept everyone on the edge of their seats. But former India spin legend Harbhajan Singh is of a different opinion. He has completely downplayed the event claiming the match won’t be a thrilling contest. He believes a huge gap exists between both teams which will thus see the game not resulting in a close clash.
Harbhajan Singh has put his trust in the India Cricket Team to outclass Pakistan in the much-anticipated clash on 23rd February. He further went on to claim that this game is overhyped as there is nothing in it.
Harbhajan downplays Pakistan
“India and Pakistan. You heard it right—this is an overhyped match between India and Pakistan. Because there is nothing in it,” Harbhajan Singh said on a YouTube channel.
The former India star went on to explain his bold statement. He claimed that the Pakistan Cricket Team lacks the necessary firepower to pose a big challenge to Team India. He also claimed Pakistan’s batting line-up has been extremely inconsistent in recent times.
“Look at their main batters. Their star batter is Babar Azam. His average against India is 31. If you are a top batter, you have to average around 50. Then, there is Rizwan. I like him as a player. He plays freely. But his average against India is 25. Fakhar Zaman, their only full-time opener, has an average of 46. It’s a good average. Fakhar can take the game away from India,” he added.
“Faheem Ashraf averages 12.5! I don’t think he will be a big threat. Saud Shakeel has an average of 8 against India. Looking at their batting line-up, I don’t get the confidence that this team will even fight,” Harbhajan concluded.
