The International Council for Cricket (ICC) has reportedly called for a board meeting on November 29 to discuss the schedule of the ICC Champions Trophy 2025. The fixtures for the marquee event, scheduled to be hosted by Pakistan in February 2025 – was supposed to be announced earlier but was deferred. The delay comes amid the standoff between India and Pakistan over the former’s refusal to travel to the neighbouring nation for CT 2025.

As per ESPN Cricinfo, the ICC is likely to ask all its members to vote for a solution in the upcoming meeting to decide on the venue for Champions Trophy 2025. The board comprises of representatives from 12 Full Member countries, three representatives from Associates, an independent director along with the ICC chairman and CEO. Earlier, reports had stated that the PCB had written a letter to the global body seeking explanation for India’s refusal to travel to India while the ICC maintained that it hadn’t been communicated by the BCCI yet.

It is understood that the Indian government has denied permission to the team. While Pakistan has remained adamant over retaining the complete hosting right, the matter seems to be slipping out of their hands. Reports have claimed that the ICC could be mulling India or South Africa as the hosts if Pakistan do not consider the hybrid model.
Dragging India to court for refusing to travel to Pakistan for Champions Trophy 2025 was one of the threats issued by Pakistan. The other threats include withdrawing from the tournament if a hybrid model is adopted, boycotting future ICC events where India will be participating in and writing a letter to the ICC seeking clarity on why India refused to travel to Pakistan.
