South Africa vs Afghanistan, Champions Trophy: AFG lose by 107 run

Champions Trophy: South Africa posted their first win of the tournament as they beat Afghanistan by 107 runs.

South Africa vs Afghanistan LIVE: The chase was a complete disaster for Afghanistan, as none of their batters shone. Rahmat Shah tried to pull things back with his 50, but in vain. Eventually he got out for 90 and Afghanistan ended up losing the match by a massive 107 runs.

It was a great start for South Africa, as they managed to get the better of Afghanistan bowlers. Ryan Rickelton and Temba Bavuma made hay and smashed half-centuries. Post that, Rickelton went on to smash his maiden ODI ton, while Aiden Markram remained unbeaten on 52, to take his team to 315/6 in 15 overs.

South Africa will take on Afghanistan in match number 3 of ICC Champions Trophy 2025 at 2.30 PM IST on Friday. This will be the first match of Group B, with Shahidi and co. playing in their maiden ICC event in the 50-overs format. The two sides had last met in the T20 World Cup semi-finals in which the Proteas had emerged victorious.
